Peggy Lynn Martin passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012, in Houston, as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Peggy was born on July 18, 1951 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Nelson Stroud and Sarah Catherine Edwards Martin. She was a longtime Houston resident, and was very active at the Second Baptist Church, West Campus. Peggy served her country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. She is survived by her daughter, Jennea Martin of Houston; sisters, Sarah Crippen of Austin and Barbara Martin of Austin; nieces, Lisa Lawrence of Houston and Angela Atkinson of Austin; and great nephews, Braden Atkinson and Caleb Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson Stroud Martin and Sarah Catherine Edwards Martin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at the Second Baptist Church, West Campus, with Rev. Mark Poe officiating.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the charity of your choice.

Peggy’s accomplishments were many, her light was so bright, and we will miss her greatly.
