Sybil Mathews Heaton was born to Bonner and Dinah Glaze Mathews in Port Arthur, TX on September 22, 1926 and died in Houston, TX on August 1, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.W. Heaton, Jr. (Bud); and daughter, Melinda Petersen. She is survived by son, Matthew Heaton; daughter-in-law, Margaret; and a grandson, Braden. Others include granddaughters, Allison Morris & Amy Petersen; and three great grandchildren.

Sybil was active in the arts and was an avid supporter and docent at the Houston Zoo. Following graduation from Texas Women’s University, she began her working career with the Wesley West Interests and retired from Total, S.A.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery with Ruben Amador officiating.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Colonial Oaks and Vitas Hospice at Memorial City Hospital for their tender care of their mother.
