Emma Lou Davis

Emma Lou Davis was welcomed by her Lord and Savior Friday, June 29, 2012 at the age of 67. Born in Barker, Texas October 26, 1944, Emma Lou Myers Davis, the daughter of Faye and J.D. Myers, loved unconditionally and gave of herself and expected nothing in return. Emma Lou met her husband, James Davis, and was married March 22, 1969 at the Apostolic Faith Church in Katy.

Emma Lou was a 1962 Katy High School graduate and began a lifelong career in the insurance industry. In 1964, Emma Lou came to work for Ward Stanberry Insurance Agency and was there until 1992 when the agency was sold to Katy Insurance Agency, where she stayed until her health no longer allowed it.

Emma Lou and James currently live in Monaville, Texas and own Limestone Kennels. Their love of dogs has lead James and Lou into being active members in numerous local dog clubs where Emma Lou was a well-respected judge of performance retrievers.

Emma Lou is survived by her husband, James Davis. Her siblings include Billy Ray Myers of Pattison; sister, Peggy and husband Billy Caldwell of Katy; brother, Ralph and wife Vivian Myers of Monaville; and sister, Linda Kay and husband Charles Cooper of Katy. Also among those blessed by Lou include numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a family of dog trainer friends that extends across the country.

Pallbearers include Donnie Williams, Doug Gilbert, Robert Youngblood, Joe Bono, Ben Bono, Larry Mikeska, Lee Wells and Raymond Dollins.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2012, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the First Baptist Church, in Katy, with Rev. Jim Foxx, Rev. Shelli Williams, Bill Teague and Emma Lou’s great-nephew Athen Allee officiating. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Monaville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, James asked that donations be made to the AKC Canine Health Foundation either online or mailed to P.O. Box 900061, Raleigh, NC 57617.
